Barbara Neitlich, LCSW is a Psychotherapist and dating/relationship expert currently in private practice in Beverly Hills, California. She is the “go to” person in Hollywood and is known for her unique approach “Reality Check Insight“™.
Barbara holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work from New York University. She began her career working in New York City in an adult residential dual diagnosis treatment center helping adults struggling with mental illness and substance abuse. She then went on to work at Beth Israel Medical Center in outpatient psychiatry dealing with a diverse set of challenges including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, ADHD, bereavement and couples counseling. Barbara was then invited to participate in a coveted post-graduate fellowship at The Reiss Davis Child Study Center in Los Angeles, California. During her two years as a clinical fellow, she intensively studied child and adolescent psychotherapy and play therapy. Additionally, she worked in their outpatient clinic providing individual, play and family therapy. During her time at The Reiss Davis Child Study Center, Barbara also worked as a clinician at UCLA Hospital in Santa Monica. There she worked with patients struggling with issues of postpartum depression, anxiety, homelessness and chronic illness.
Barbara is currently in private practice seeing clients in the Beverly Hills/Los Angeles area, as well as video chat and teleconferencing. She is an expert in the area of dating and relationships as well as anxiety, depression and body image issues. Barbara’s unique approach, Reality Check Insight™, works by offering a combination of self-reflection layered with understanding and compassion. This mental check-in assists many of her clients to develop immediate positive change through therapeutic actions; a process she calls a “Reality Check”. Barbara is frequently consulted and noted in the press in a variety of publications from Cosmopolitan Magazine to The Wall Street Journal. Recently featured on E!True Hollywood Story as a psychological consultant and commentator, Barbara also works with entertainment companies such as BBC America as an on/off camera psychological consultant.
